My High School Seatmate's Wedding

I got a surprising text from Iya one day and I thought it must be something big since we rarely text each other nowadays. And I was right, her message made me scream with excitement as she informed me that she’s already getting married. The big day is set on the 20th of August in breathtaking Tagaytay. The schedule was perfect for a location wedding since it’s a holiday the following day.

Come wedding day, the heavens showered a downpour of blessings in the morning and soon the skies cleared with just a gush of soft wind and drizzle as the couple exchanged their I do’s in the afternoon. Iya was a lovely bride in her simple yet elegant gown and Franz looked dashing in his tux. The ceremony was very intimate and touching. The pastor even asked the couple to give their personal vows to each other. Iya, being a comic that she was told the pastor that that was not part of the script. Their love for each other was so evident in the way they professed their love and commitment in front of God and the people dear to them.

All throughout the ceremony, Myles and I found ourselves beaming with joy as we watched our former high school seatmate at the happiest moment of her life. Not too long ago, we were just a bunch of girls in pigtails sharing notes, test papers (hehe), stories about our crushes, kikay and other kababawan stuff. The three of us were strategically seated beside each other because of our surnames –Saret, Solis and Sumera. I have so many fond memories of these girls, especially Iya being the closest person in proximity during my high school years. I remember back in the day when we would diss our teachers, talk about our crushes and our favorite TV shows (California Dreams wink wink) in between subjects, how we would go to their place after school to practice for a folk dance competition which eventually won us the grand prize, when I spent the evening at their place unplanned to finish a paper which led us to go to the nearby sari-sari store at 1 in the morning to buy myself a toothbrush (hehe). I could go on and on listing a bunch of other fun memories with this girl but what I’m most happy to say is that despite the fact that we hardly see each other during and after college, the bond between us still remains; she is still the same Anding Solis, well now it’s Manzano that I know.

Congratulations, Iya and Franz! May you have a happy and blissful life together!

Fun Office Moments!

All work and no play makes Jane a dull girl goes the old adage. Stress kicks in after going through numerous meetings, deadlines, cutovers and extended hours in the office. People from CPG all share this sentiment, that’s why we thought of organizing a weekly badminton game to relieve ourselves from unwanted stress and to also forge friendship and camaraderie among us. Who knows after a number of fun games, we would be able to form our own tournament ala MVP Cup.

Another fun bonding activity we organized was a “Videoke Night” at Red Box. It’s surprising to know that there were a number of people in the office who were talented singers; andyan si Ric na tumitira ng alternative, rap and R&B, ang mga balladeers na sina Karlo, Arnel and Sir Santi, ang bumibirit ng Bituing Walang Ningning na si Ms Cathy, and of course sina Jucyn and Ms Lily an hindi din pahuhuli sa biritan ng mga OPM band songs. Nun lang namin nadiscover ang mga tinatago nilang talento. Hehe For some who’d rather keep their singing voices in the confines of their bathrooms opted to just play billiards. hehe Mga hataw naman ang mga ito pagdating sa bilyaran…andyan sina Trish, Chino, Tin, Buddy, Chino, Fiel and Sir Apol. Super saya talaga!

Hehehe

The Black Eyed Peas Monkey Business Tour

I can list the BEP Concert as one of the moments when I had the most awesome time of my life. Actually, I didn't plan to watch this concert; not until Sarah mentioned about it just two weeks before the concert date. We were fortunate because when she inquired at Ticketnet there were still good slots available. I was kinda having hesitations at first because the tix were kinda pricey but what the heck, sige, go na! It’s time to bring back some fun and excitement again in my life. And all I can say is it's all worth it!

On the day of the concert, Sarah and I agreed to meet up at Glorietta then we'd just take the MRT going to Araneta. We had dinner at Taco Bell Gateway then we proceeded na to the venue. Guess what?! We were dancing and jumping all throughout the concert! Buti na lang talaga, I’ve decided to wear sneaks! Siguro, two or three songs lang yung umupo kami para magpahinga. Hehe After the concert, Sarah and I just chilled at Gloria Jean's to chat and recall the brief fun we had before heading back again to our normal and redundant lives. hehe
